The Darkest Hour Movie Ending: How the Darkest Hour movie ending failed to resolve the invisible invaders

Original Publication date: 12/31/2011

The Darkest Hour movie ending failed to deliver a resolution. Sean (played by Emile Hirsh) battled the invisible invaders with a high frequency microwave gun designed to disrupt energy shields protecting the Alien beings. The movie ending of The Darkest Hour focused on helping a small group of young Americans and one Russian adolescent girl reach a Russian submarine; however, the resolution fails to convey whether humankind saves the Earth from Alien annihilation.

The Darkest Hour movie ending established that microwave frequency guns, water, and fire can defeat the invisible invaders. Thus, the high-powered microwave guns scramble the energy shields long enough to expose the invisible invaders to weapons. The invisible invaders can devour living orgasms, leaving no trace of the victims. A few humans are incapable of defeating thousands of invisible invaders.

Humans can kill invisible invaders with radioactive microwave energy guns. The movie ending of The Darkest Hour movie depict Sean and four Russian soldiers killing several invisible invaders. Do you really think that five people are capable of killing these invisible invaders?

Moments after Sean and the Russian fighters celebrate their victory against the invisible invaders, the team make their way back to the Russian submarine. The Russian submarine departs to sea. Sean and Natalie (Olivia Thirlby) discuss the fact that many European cities are fighting against the invisible invaders. The Darkest Hour movie ending immediately dissolves to the end credits.

We have no clue to the fate of the world. Whereas thousands of invisible invaders attack Earth, we only see less than a dozen actually killed. The invisible invaders mine Russia for the country's rich resources. As we may know, Russia hold the world's most pure natural resources such as precious metals and natural gases. The invisible invaders attack Earth to collect energy. Human heat provide the invisible invaders with enough energy to fuel their super invasion.

The movie ending to The Darkest Hour falls flat. There is no resolution. Thousands of invisible invaders enter Earth. In the end, Sean and the Russian soldiers kill several invisible invaders. We are supposed to believe that killing a few invisible invaders will lead the world to destroy the cheesy Aliens hiding behind their energy shields. We prefer the invisible invaders rather than the visible Aliens.

If you remember Independence Day, the end of the world Alien movie resolved the super invasion. Will and Jeff upload a virus, and then deposit a nuclear weapon in the heart of the mother ship. Thus, attacking the core of the satellite spaceships enable humankind to defeat the Alien invasion on Earth. The mother ship protects the satellite ships through an invisible forcefield. Therefore, destroying the host exposes the satellite spaceships to enemy fire. We see the main characters celebrate saving the world. Independence Day takes the time to finish the ending with a clear resolution.

Most end of the world movies end with a resolution. We don't see a good movie ending in The Darkest Hour movie. The movie ending has no clear resolution. It abruptly ends. We have many questions to ask about The Darkest Hour movie ending. Will the invisible invaders be defeated? How many cities are facing extinction? Did the world discover how to destroy the invisible invaders? The Darkest Hour movie ending failed to resolve the super invasion because the screenwriter rushed to finish the ending.
