Final Destination 5 film ending explained

Final Destination 5 released in movie theaters last year. The metaphysical movie about death's plot to reclaim souls that are intended to die in an accident is a consistent theme in the previous four films. In Final Destination 5, the film ending has a negative outcome.

The following analysis below will give out film ending spoilers. If you haven't watched the movie yet, then  avoid reading the film ending explanation below.

***Film Ending Spoilers***

Peter joins Sam and Molly in a French restaurant. Sam never invited Peter to have dinner. Peter looks like a mess. His intentions are no good. He explains that he contemplated whether to kill another innocent person to take their life. 

Sam and Molly are worried. Peter pulls out a gun. He attempts to shoot Molly. Sam overturns the table, running with Molly into the kitchen. Peter goes after the two. His intentions are to kill Molly so that he can take her life. Sam is already supposed to die, which would do Peter no good to kill him. 

Detective Block hears gunshots inside the restaurant. He goes inside to investigate the commotion. Peter continues on the Molly search. Molly tries her best to stay quiet. She is beyond scared, especially because Peter means business with trying to kill her.

Peter shoots Detective Block. Now Peter assumes the life of Block. However, Peter and Sam struggle in a fight. Sam kills Peter before he can murder Molly. Now Sam takes over the life of Detective Block. Peter killed Block, and then Sam took Peter's life out of self-defense. 

Inside the airplane, Peter and Molly are ready to fly to Paris, France. Molly takes the window seat. Sam pushes the luggage in the opposite overhead compartment since theirs is too compacted. Sam watches a group of combative adolescents getting escorted off the plane. 

We recognize the adolescents as Alex and Carter. We even see Claire leaving the plane. The year is 2000, the exact time the original Final Destination movie took place. Sam confirms this date on his plane ticket. 

The prequel is in effect. Sam realizes Molly's and his impending doom once the stewardess mentions Alex having a vision. The music resembles the tunes heard in the setup - the bus scene. 

The plane's wing catches on fire. As a result, the back section breaks open. Passengers are lifted out of the plane. Sam attempts to save Molly, but the force of the wind and the speed of the plane are too hard to overcome. Molly slams into the wind, and then explodes into bloody pieces. 

Sam is trying hard to survive. The plane begins to catch fire, beginning in the cockpit, and then moving into the back of the plane. The plane explodes. 

Nathan is at a memorial for Roy. Nathan's boss shared the news that Roy would have passed any day now. It is revealed to Nathan that the company performed an autopsy on Roy, discovering this former hot-tempered employee had a brain condition and was a ticking time bomb ready to implode. 

The boss leaves the bar, telling Nathan life is a bitch. Nathan realizes that his time will expire soon. All of a sudden, the airplane engines powers through the ceiling and smashes him dead. 

Every person in Final Destination 5 dies. Why did everyone die? Death makes no mistakes, claiming every soul that escaped its original visitation. If these victims are supposed to die, death will make its rounds to collect the souls. 

Final Destination 5 is a prequel to Final Destination. The prequel sets up death's design. We see how death works in Final Destination, Final Destination 2, Final Destination 3, and The Final Destination. No person has ever escaped death in any of these previous films. 

Final Destination 5 film ending ties up all loose ends to set the tone for the films to follow. When it is your time to die, death will keep pressing on until you meet your end.
