Oculus film ending

The twisted paranormal movie Oculus confused moviegoers with switching back and forth between past and present scenes without warning. The Oculus film ending is one that we suspected (wait and see the evil movie). If you haven't seen Oculus yet, then avoid this film ending.

***Oculus movie ending spoiler***

***Spoiler Alert***

In the Oculus ending, Kaylie's lack of awareness accidentally caused her to kill her fiance Michael. We know this mirror holds supernatural powers to destroy any person attempting to manipulate its evil scheme.

Kaylie watches her deceased mother in the mirror. Her mother appears like a flawless angel. Kaylie flushes her face against the window to get closer to her mother.

Younger brother Tim sees the mirror in real time and space. Nothing is there; we don't see Kaylie standing there awaiting her impending doom.

Tim prematurely presses the button to drop the heavy weight against the evil mirror. He thinks this weight will once and for all destroy the mirror to end the nightmare it has caused his family.

Shockingly, this weight crushes the back of Kaylie's neck. She is pinned up against the mirror, where blood begins to pour out of her mouth. Kaylie pulsates in the wake of this deadly blow.

The mirror completes its ultimate mission, preventing its dark secret from reaching light. Tim is clearly upset and shaken up, fooled as to whether Kaylie is in fact real. He calls out her name, realizing that his sister will soon die.

Police sirens sound off, arriving to the scene of the obvious murder scene. Tim is taken away, where we see parallel scene of him as a child and as a adult meeting his fate. Both times, Tim is accused of killing a family member. Tim denies killing his sister, but the evidence is stacked up against him.

The police discuss Tim's motive, indicating that he called 911 to report the crime. In this film footage, Tim is seen releasing a lever that smashes a weight up against Kaylie's.

All the former dead people consumed by this mirror gather together, including Kaylie, Michael and Tim's parents. Past people who owned the mirror are also present in the home.

Tim shouts from inside the car that he is not to blame. He claims the mirror is responsible for his sister's death. Oculus's ending follows Tim in the back of a police car.

The end.

  1. What was the significance(if any) of the woman we see standing there watching tim being hauled off by the cops right before the screen goes black? It looked like kaylee.

    3. That's a great question, because the final shot is definitely from that woman's point of view. I thought she looked more like Kaylie's mom--but I can't explain why or how that would make sense. I'd love to hear the writer or director regarding this question. And I very much look forward to Flanagan's next movies.

  3. It was definitely kaylie, I saw it too. So is she really alive? And why wasn't her fiance in the window with her and her parents? I liked the movie overall but it got too "illusionary" without clear boundaries of what's real or not.

The ending was confusing. I think kaylies alive and watching her brother taken away again for having a breakdown?

    1. the girl was the young kaylie. she is dead.

  4. Kaylie is the real insane person- you see flashes of it thru the film.
She belongs to the mirror- and will feed it more victims in part 2.
Remember the mirror can manipulate video, time, and electricity. The video of her death is an illusion.
When we look in a mirror, what does it do? It lies to you!

    1. the mirror doesnt manipulate video, it manipulates your perception of events. the reason looking through her phone at the broken pieces on the floor revealed the truth.

they were really placing the cameras together when they were arguing, but they didnt see it that way.

  5. nice movie but as someone here said.. it got to much "illusionary" without clear boundaries of what´s real or not.

The ending, watching first Kaylie in the mirror with her parents, tell us she´s dead.. but why do we see her outside the house watching her brother been taken away in the police car? was she or weren´t she dead?

Of course we can say, that she wasn't.. maybe she wasn't in the entire movie either!.. who knows!, maybe she died when she was little, and everything in the movie, was the delusion of Tim?

or maybe it is ourselves.. who got trapped by an enchanted mirror!.. and we are just in front of it for a sec right now. and everything in our life is just a sec in front of it?..

now back to reality.. everyone can make a movie with any ending (real or surreal) and mean anything.. so nothing we are going to say have to be the real thing.. in fact, not even the writer knows the outcome yet!.. yes I smell "Oculus 2"... but.. I hope it gets more "real" next time. (cause in this Oculus, the ending is just pathetic.. in a way!) ;)

  6. If Kaylie as an adult is dead and that was the Kaylie as a child (ghost child), wouldn't that she is the true manipulator? I feel as if the illusions were to not throw only Kaylie & Tim off but us as well. It seems at the beggining that Kaylie has some sort of "intimacy" towards the mirror, just as her father did. She asked if it were hungry and quickly switched subject as she touches the crack at the bottom right and says "I hope it hurt." She thens look up and the illusions start from their with statues. Maybe this whole time she was really the one in a illusion state of mind.

  7. Can anyone answer the fact that tim was sitting underneath the mirror and yet somehow kaylie was there too that he didnt feel her standing over him?

    1. This ^, but also it is a good point at the beginning she asked if the mirror was hungry.

    2. I was wondering that too, at first, but remember kaylie started several feet away and then walked to the mirror? I think tim got up as she was approaching. The mirror knows how it happened before so it timed it all just right. Tim got up as kaylke approached. It tricked him.

  8. After rewinding and pausing on the woman at the end screen, the proportions are those of an adult, not a child. And it perplexes me.

    1. Do you guys all have something wrong with your television lighting? Did I see a different ending?

The three people at the end (3 figures standing inside looking out at Tim as he gets arrested, and driven away) are the mother, father and adult kaylie (Karen Giligan). There was NO child there. It was the actress Karen Giligan as ghost/dead adult Kaylie. As she was just murdered by the mirror, and now lives in hell inside the mirror.

    2. That is what I saw too! I was beginning to think I missed something.

    3. Agreed. The figure watching adult Tim being hauled off is the adult Kaylie. It's a very confusing ending, but if you pause it at the end the side profile of the crying figure is adult Kaylie.

  10. My only question in all of this. (I know, old thread. Just watched the movie.) At the very end of the ending, where they are taking the grown brother off for killing the sister.. Why does it look like the back of the sister's head with her ponytail, shaking her head from behind near the cop cars?
